Obama Mania!!!

I don't have any real problem with Obama. My only issue stems from two areas... The hype and the misconception. Let me explain...

You know the term people have been throwing around, "Obama-mania!" This refers to the extreme hype that's been surrounding this man since he stepped onto the campaign trail. Here's my problem with this. Nothing and no one will ever be able to live up to the hype that is created around them. It's just that simple. You want "Change you can believe in?" Well then don't set your sights too high. Obama, no matter how smart, no matter how well spoken, will never be able to live up to the hype surrounding his name.
Funny, before the election he was worried his name would be a problem since it sounded too much like "Osama"... As in Osama Bin Laden. Now look at his name! All over the fucking place!

Here's the second part, "misconception." This isn't as much about Obama as it is about the presidency. Obama is president, but people forget how limited the powers of the presidency are. He's not a king. He's very restricted. If you wanted everything he said to come true then you should have voted him back into a seat in the senate, not the oval office. The president cannot write bills for legislation. He cannot propose legislation. He cannot sit in on senate meetings, that's the vice president's job. He can veto bills, but the senate can go around him. He can elect Supreme Court Justices, but only when one dies or resigns. He can send troops in emergency military action, but must recall them within 30 days or have the senate declare war. (And let's face it, that rule's been broke more times than my bank account! But Obama is not like Bush and his idiot war monger friends. He won't start a war using his presidential powers. He's not stupid.) No matter who you put into the president's position, they are extremely limited. Good fucking luck pulling off any of the things on his agenda.

Although Obama's powers are limited, and throughout all the hype, he still has some good ideas. He's been labeled a "Communist, Socialist, Atheist, Muslim, etc..." and that doesn't matter. Anyone who thinks these things are true either doesn't know the definition of the term or doesn't know what a contradiction is. He can't be both a Muslim and an atheist! (Odds are that he's probably the second, his mother was.) But none of those things are directly bad. America needs socialized programs. What do you think your police and fire departments are? What do you think your ambulances used to be? Your public schools? Come on people! Socialism isn't bad in moderation. Obama isn't a socialist, he's just a really smart guy who knows a good deal when he sees it. Universal health care should be a reality in any country that calls itself "free." Also, you must admit that a lot of this anger against Obama isn't based on reason or politics, it's based on the fact that he's Black.
